Monthly Aesthetic Mood Board

A few months ago, when I started on the journey that later led to creating my Life Syllabus, I decided to make a sort of vision board for the upcoming month. As I created it, I turned it into an “Aesthetics Mood Board” for the month.

While it is similar to a vision board, it’s also a little different. While a vision board is about looking into the future at dreams and goals, a monthly Aesthetics Mood Board looks at what you know is happening in addition to goals. It’s also all very cohesive which your vision board may be as well, but personally, my vision boards are usually a bit eclectic.

Basically, it became a fun project to do at the end of each month that made me look at the upcoming month in a more creative way.

You can have fun making your own, too!

How to Create a Monthly Aesthetics Mood Board

1. Ask yourself the following questions and find corresponding images.

  1. What does my daily routine look like/What do I want it to look like?

  2. How do I want to feel this month?

  3. What activities and events do I have going on this month?

  4. What are my goals this month?

Pinterest is the obvious source to collect images but it can be overwhelming. To take a little bit of the overwhelm away, I’ve been curating a collection of images specifically for Monthly Aesthetic Boards. I have categories for the most common daily activities, moods and vibes, and other fun things. If there’s a topic you’d like me to curate on the board, let me know in the comments!

2. Once you have a collection of images, go through and edit. I do this by creating a section on that Pinterest board for the upcoming month and I save everything that I like for the Aesthetic Mood Board I’m working on. Once that’s collected I go through again and download my favorites to create collages.

3. Put your final aesthetics somewhere you will see them often so it keeps you inspired! I update my Notion Dashboard with my monthly aesthetic so it’s constantly in front of me and create a Reel showcasing it just for funzies, and so I can look back in the future and see how each month changes.

How would you describe your aesthetic for the upcoming month? Are there any other topics you’d like to see curated in that Pinterest board?
